The auction for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has come and gone, and all ten teams are now acutely aware that the highlight competition will begin in a matter of weeks at the earliest.

At the auction that took place on December 23 in Kochi, notable players including Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, Harry Brook, and Cameron Green were able to command enormous amounts of money.

On the other side, some names have been the pillars around which the teams have been built. Here are three IPL 2023 teams who rely much too heavily on a single player for their success.

Delhi Capitals – Rishabh Pant:

Fans of the Delhi Capitals, kindly avert your eyes! Rishabh Pant, who keeps wickets and bats for his team and was recently involved in a terrible vehicle accident, will not participate in the Indian Premier League 2023, according to members of the team’s support staff. Because of his absence, DC is in a precarious situation.

  • Pant was the only Indian player on the squad who specialized in keeping wickets in addition to being the team’s captain. Because the addition of Phil Salt is expected to cause significant disruption to the overseas lineup, the decision to retain Sarfaraz Khan on the roster in a part-time capacity may be the only viable option for DC at this time. The Capitals may be forced to choose between two possibilities that aren’t very good if they can’t find a great gloveman who is still available to sign.
  • However, it is hardly the end of DC’s issues. Because the middle order lacks not just dependable batters but also left-handed hitters, elevating Axar Patel might very well be the only option that is open to fix the problem. The development of Delhi’s roster was primarily dependent on Pant having a productive season with the bat, and now all of their preparations have been rendered useless because of this setback.

Mumbai Indians – Jasprit Bumrah

In the Indian Premier League 2022, Jasprit Bumrah took 15 wickets while maintaining an economy rate of 7.18 runs per over. The Mumbai Indians’ pace attack was weak. Though he will have Jofra Archer to keep him company this time around, the Indian fast-bowling group seems to be even weaker than it was the year before.

  • Following the freeing of Jaydev Unadkat and Basil Thampi, MI did not make any significant efforts to increase its domestic pace stockpiles. Where will MI be if Bumrah is not around? The spearhead has been suffering from a bothersome back problem, and it seems that his actions are starting to catch up to them. If he isn’t at his peak fitness level during the Indian Premier League, he shouldn’t be risked with important competitions like the One-Day International World Cup coming up soon.
  • The five-time world champions are missing Bumrah and are playing just half of their side. This is not only because of worries surrounding the possibilities available for his replacement but also due to how much value the fast gives to the side.

Gujarat Titans – Hardik Pandya:

During the first season of the Indian Premier League, Hardik Pandya did an outstanding job of leading the Gujarat Titans. On the strength of an outstanding individual season with the bat and the ball, the all-rounder captained the team to victory and won the championship.

  • There aren’t many people who can perform Pandya’s role for GT. In addition to adopting the role of team captain, he bats in the top four spots and is tasked with bowling the most difficult overs. Because there are not many all-rounders in the nation that come close to matching what the 29-year-old has to offer, the Titans decided to keep Vijay Shankar on their roster despite the all-lackluster rounder’s play.
  • However, he would be a significant step back when compared to Pandya, who is widely regarded as one of the finest Twenty20 all-rounders in the world. He is the heart and soul of GT, and the company places a significant amount of importance on his contributions to their success.

Conclusion:

So, These players will be essential to the success of their respective teams, but it may be argued that they are not significant enough to the teams’ strategies for them to make or break their seasons.
